HOW IT WORKS

How to interpret today’s electricity price

The spot price is the market price of the electrical energy itself in your bidding zone. The spot price shown here includes VAT. Grid fees, energy tax, your electricity retailer’s markup and other contract costs are not included.

The price changes with production, transmission capacity and demand. Flexible consumption can sometimes be moved from a more expensive to a cheaper interval, while the final electricity bill always includes more than the spot price.

Compare times, not just one number

The spot price is most useful when you compare different periods. For activities that take several hours, a continuous period of relatively low prices may matter more than the single cheapest point of the day.

Your total electricity cost may contain more components than the spot price shown here.
