Compare the right fuel

Petrol 95, petrol 98, diesel, E85, vehicle gas and biodiesel are separate products. A low petrol price therefore says nothing about the station's diesel price.

Prices are based on current reports. Always check the date and station's own signage before you drive a longer detour.

Calculate the cost of the whole trip

The cheapest station per litre is not always the cheapest overall. Distance, fuel consumption and extra travel time can eat up the price difference.

• Check report date
• Compare the price with the distance
• Avoid unnecessary detours for small price differences

1. Calculate the fuel-price difference

   Multiply the price difference per litre with the amount you actually need to refuel.

2. Calculate the detour

   Use the car's own normal consumption and the extra route round-trip.

3. Compare the cost

   If the fuel and time required for the detour exceed the price difference, the lowest advertised price is not the cheapest choice overall.

A small price difference can disappear on the way there

If two stations are close to each other, the price can be a good way to compare them. However, if the cheaper station requires a clear detour, you should consider both extra mileage and time.

First calculate approximately how much you save on the refuelling itself. Then compare it with the cost of the extra drive.

This makes the comparison more useful than automatically choosing the lowest number in the list.

Missing price information does not mean that the station lacks fuel

Not all stations always have up-to-date price information for all fuel types.

If a price is missing, it can mean that there is not a sufficiently up-to-date report, not necessarily that the station does not sell the product.

Therefore, check both the fuel type and the update time when that information is available.
